The Other Laundry List Trait 8: We inhibit our fear by staying deadened and numb.
Reading assignment for Trait Eight:
Laundry Lists Workbook: Pages 76 and 77.
This week’s study questions are found on pages 79 and 80 of the Laundry Lists Workbook under the heading “Trait 8 Reflections: The Other Laundry List”:
1. What have you used in your life to inhibit your fears? Describe what you may have used to numb and deaden your experience of life. If you did this as a child, what did you do?
2. Growing up, the people in your life may have displayed inhibition of fear by staying deadened and numb. If so, list in detail who they were and what they did, and how you thought about it when you were young.
3. In your adult life, have you been in relationships with others who display this trait? Describe who they were and what they did, and how you thought about it at the time.
4. Growing up, what fears do you think the people in your life were trying to deaden and numb? As an adult in relationships with others displaying this trait, what fears do you think they were trying to deaden or numb? And finally, for yourself, what fears have you tried to deaden and numb?
