Register Your Chat Nickname
For security reasons, you must register a nickname with a valid email address in order to enter our chat rooms, using the link below. Please do not choose nicknames that will become a distraction from the purpose we are here, or names that you know will trigger others. If the nickname you choose is not acceptable, the host will ask you to change it. In that case you will need to immediately leave, change your name and come back into the room. If you need clarification as to what was wrong with your name, you may privately talk to the host upon your return and the host will be more than happy to explain the problem. If you are already in the room and a nick name appears that is triggering you, please don't take it upon yourself to ask for the change, contact a host and let the host do her/his job. We ask that you follow the host suggestion in all areas yet if you feel the rule is unfair or the host is taking advantage of his/her position, please email the administrator of your complaint or concern. You will not be allowed to put a host on ignore, if the hosts ask you to respond to them, you must do that. This allows the host to provide safety to the room. Register Name / Update Password
HOW IT WORKS When you click on the link above, you will be asked for a valid email address. Your email address is used solely for the purpose of confirming your membership registration to this web site. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose and can only be accessed by the site administrator.
 You will also be asked for your "Real Name" on the form. This can be your first name only, or first name and last initial. You do not have to reveal your full name to anyone at StepChat.com, including the site administrator. After you submit the form, you will instantly be sent an email to the address that you put into the form. The email will be from do_not_reply @ parachat.com. If you are using a web-based email account, such as Hotmail or Yahoo mail, or any other email client that filters spam, you may need to check your Bulk or Junk folder for the confirmation message if it does not show up in your regular inbox.
 The email you receive will contain a link that you can use to confirm that you did receive the message. This is to keep someone else from using your email address to register at StepChat.com. Click on the link, or copy-paste it into your browser and confirm that you want to register. You will immediately be sent a second email assigning you a computer-generated password, which you can use to log on to the chat rooms.
 Now that you have a registered nickname and password you can change your password if you wish to one that you would rather use or one easier to remember. To change your password click here and then click on the link that says "Log in to change settings" (circled in Red in image below).
 Use the password that you received in your second email to log in, then you can change it to a new password. Only you have your password, it is not accessible by even the site administrator. When you log on to any of our chat rooms, a window will appear asking you for your registered user name and password. Enter your nickname and password into the fields and click on the Connect button. If you do not see the window to enter your nickname and password, your browser may not be Java enabled. You may want to use the Java Test Tool to determine if your browser is set up to use our chat rooms.
