Anyone can chair a meeting at StepChat. It's easy because you can you can post the entire suggested opening and closing statements with a couple of clicks.

A link TEXT FILES used to chair meetings are only accessible to the person who changes their availability status to "Chairperson." Here's how to do that:

At the top right of the chat room there is a Avatar icon that lets you change your availability to: Available, Away, Chairperson, Greeter, and No Private Messages. Choose "Chairperson" to lead the meeting.

At the top left of the chat room, click on TEXT FILES for CHAIRPERSONS ONLY and a pulldown menu will appear with a list of files. Click on the name of the one you wish to use and it will begin to display in the chat room after 5 seconds.

You have the option of stopping or pausing the script at any time.

Of course, this method of chairing a meeting is a suggestion, not a requirement. In the early days, we held many meetings by opening with the Serenity Prayer and choosing a topic. The text files are there for you convenience should you choose to use them.

If you log on to a meeting and no one is there to lead it, just jump in, change your status to "Chairperson," and go for it!
