Why Didn't I Receive My Password?

When you registered your Username, an email is immediately sent to you with a link that you click on to confirm that it was indeed you using your email to register. When you click on that link another email is sent immediately containing your password. Because these two emails are auto-generated, some email filters treat them as Spam. Please check your "Spam" or "Junk" or "Bulk" folder to see if these emails were diverted from your Inbox.

Why Doesn't My Password Work?

When you first register your nickname for the on the Registration Page, the computer-generated password that is emailed to you sometimes contain numerals that may appear to be letters. Ones can look like Ls and Zeros can look like Os.

If your password will not work, try copy-pasting it into the field instead of typing it. If that works, you can then change your password to something easier to remember On this page

NOTE: If you can't copy-paste into the password field on the log on screen, try copy-pasting the password into WordPad or another text editor where you should be able to tell the numerals from the letters in the password. Then type it into the logon field.

I Forgot My Password

If you have forgotten your password, click on this link, type in your Nickname (Username) and your password will be emailed to you immediately.

There is no delay between when you click on the request button and when the email is sent. If you do not receive the email immediately, check your Spam or Junk folders.

If you do not receive your password reminder, use the Contact Us form to request a new password. Please include the password you would like to use.

How Can I Change My Password?

When you originally registered your nickname for the chat rooms, if you encountered problems and had to contact technical support in order to receive your password, your registration was automatically placed in a separate database, which can only be accessed by technical support (this is an unfortunate glitch in the Parachat database software).

To change your password, use the Contact Us form to send the password you would like to use to technical support.

I Don't See Where to Enter My Password

When you click on one of the chat room links from the home page, the Java applet will begin to load and you will soon see a window where you type in your Username. After you are connected to the chat room, you will then see a window asking for your password.

If you do not see the log-on window, you may need to upgrade your Java. You can find out for sure by running the Java Testing Tool. Or you can go directly to and download the latest version.

If you get a message saying that you do not have Java enabled on your computer, you may need to change the options in your browser.

If you cannot get Java to work with the browser you are using, try using another browser. Or, you can choose the Flash option, instead of the default Java, before trying to log on.

Note: If your browser does not support Java, we recommend using the Pale Moon browser which works very well with our chat rooms. You can download the Pale Moon broswer from this site.

Can I Log On With a Mobile Device?

Yes, you can log on with a mobile device such as a iPhone, Smartphone, or tablet. If you are logging on with a mobile device it is best to log on from this page. If you are logging on from the desktop version of the website, choose the "I am on a mobile device" option instead of the default Java option before clicking Connect.

I Can't Copy-Paste Into the Chat Room

Copy-paste problems are directly related to the version of Java that you have installed. In order to copy-paste you must have the latest version of Java. You can download it from

Can I Get Confirmation of My Meeting Attendance?

Yes, after you attend a meeting at you can fill out the form on this page to receive an email confirmation of your meeting attendance. Please check with your probation officer or caseworker to make sure that online meetings can be used to meet your court-ordered requirements. Some jurisdictions do recognize online meetings, but others do not.
